The year 8 curriculum is made up of:
- the Core program
- two units from the Technology Key Learning Area
- two units from the Arts Key Learning Area
- Languages other than English (LOTE)
- Physical Activity and Education
- targeted Literacy and Numeracy (LAN) lessons
- a Wellbeing program based on Mindmatters, the Australian National Curriculum and other recognised support programs.

The
core program is made up of units of work which include outcomes from:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- History (National Curriculum)
- Geography (National Curriculum).
The
core program continues throughout the year. Information & Communication Technologies is about using technology
to access and communicate information. ICTs will be part of all learnings across the curriculum.
Subjects
other than Core are studied in Year 8 for Semesters 1 and 2. These are offered subject to staff and
resource availability, and timetable constraints.
Subjects
other than Core are organised in term units. Students will undertake study from one subject from the Technology KLA
and one subject from the Arts KLA during a semester (two terms).
LAN,
or Literacy and Numeracy, are lessons where students receive more targeted support
of their Literacy and Numeracy needs.
Throughout
the year the Year 8 students will study LOTE and have lessons in Physical
Activity.
